Writing Forms

I keep six honest serving men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
and How and Where and Who.

Rudyard Kipling

Writing in General

Superb writing takes time to develop no matter what format you wish to write. You can write anything from Journals to Novels and do extremely well if you practice.

Set aside time every day to practice the format you wish to write. Even fifteen minutes a day will improve your writing. For example, Steven King has a quota of two thousand words to fulfill every day.

Personally, I try to write for a minimum of an hour every day, no matter what else I have to do. I can accomplish a lot or a little in that time, depending on how much I struggle.

If you struggle, take a break and try again later, or try some free writing. Free writing is writing whatever comes to mind, just write and make sense of it later. This approach may get your creative juices flowing.
