Do you believe things can happen that have not happened? Things that just don’t add up… Go ahead use a calculator. I seem to be a magnet for these strange occurrences. Especially now that I’m homeless.
A week ago me and my friend Ken built a shelter in a stand of trees. I slept there for two days and on the third he came riding his bike to see me. He had a hat that he gave me. A hat you say? Just an old dusty hat. New York Yankees.
I took it from him in good faith that it was legitimate and not stolen… it was Ken! He wouldn’t steal if he had no way to eat, never mind stealing a ball cap. I tried it on and miraculously it fit without adjusting. Wow! I was happy.
The happiness continued and I continued to grind through life, upbeat, happy, and looking proper with my new acquisition. As time continued I noticed things like the smell of incense when I put it on and the confidence I had while wearing it.
I noticed that the top button was missing and the peak was well worn. The sticker proclaiming the brand name was still affixed to the top of the peak and then it dawned on me to investigate further.
Just out of curiosity I took it off and looked inside… Jesus! The cap was a field worn Yankees cap exactly fitted to my head. What were the odds??? 7 1/8 inches, my hat size!!! I wondered who’s it was and googled games in TO.
Nope, the Yankees had not played in TO during that stretch. But it was a ball players hat and that person was definitely a Yankee. I wore it with pride for a few more days until last night when it disappeared while I slept. I have a photo… It was real!😍
For a fleeting moment I was an All American ball player and imagined the grand stands roaring with applause as I rounded the home stretch full bore after hitting a grand slam! Wow, what a feeling. Now back to earth… Both feet before I dream of being an astronaut on Apollo 13.
