Still living in the streets of the great TO. It’s been a week and a half since I got here, and I’m still going strong. Looking for a home is not easy, as the shelter system is full to capacity. The strongest point I’ve found is food.
Last night I stopped at a local Tim Hortons and bought a meal consisting of a turkey club, chocolate chip muffin, and a large double double. I ate it slowly at close to close. There was a downpour while me and a lady sat there finishing our coffee and tea and watching the scurrying denizens try to get out of the rain.
Just as I was about to leave the clerk asked me if I wanted a bowl of chilli or soup too go as I would just go to waste. Being shy I said no, but their kind persuasion had me eating out of their hands. In the end I walked away with both. Thank you so much Tim’s staff!!!
As I sat on my concrete bench readying for sleep, an Uber driver came up to me and asked me if I’d like some food. Turned out it was Tempura Shrimp, California Rolls, and Sponge cake… Mmmmmm Good.
I ate all I was given and thanked the maker for the kindest souls that a man could find while in TO. That’s a morning I got up and shared the sponge cake with the sparrows and pigeons in Brerzy Park.
