I’ve been in TO for almost 2 weeks now and finally got a room at a local hotel. Let me tell you what a blessing this place is as a room cost only $140 for tonight. I went out and bought some soap, a grooming trimmer, toothpaste, toothbrush, and shave foam. I’ve already washed the last two weeks from my body and am enjoying the comforts of a real bed for the first time in 2 weeks.
When I left I wasn’t sure where I was going to end up, but I’m glad Scott redirected me to TO. The port is immense and when you take the time to talk, the people are friendly and helpful. People here are kinder to me then in Winnipeg where I felt like a VC regular in the middle of Saigon.
Like the VC regular I’ve lived homeless for almost three weeks and really must thank my mom for the use of her credit card to rent this place for the night. I’ve already paid her back and evened the score with an email Interac transaction.
I’ve shopped multiple nearby stores and found frozen treats to warm in my room’s microwave: Pizza Pops, Jimmy Dean’s sausage & egg breakfast sandwiches, some Chunky Prime Rib stew, and some sausage, egg , and cheese Bistro breakfast wraps.
Besides a literal buffet of food, i now have clean clothes to face the rest of the month with. I’m off to wash clothes so have a good night and remember that when you put your mind to it anything can happen… Anything at all.
